JOB SUMMARY: The Ride & Show Performance Intern will support Ride & Show Animators as they develop the motions performances of dark ride vehicles at Universal Parks and Resorts. 


  • Applying 3D modeling and animation skills in 3D Studio Max and/or Maya to help create experiential performances for dark rides at Universal
  • Cleaning up 3D models for ride vehicles, rigging for animation, and refinement of motion curves in 3Ds Max for Maya 
  • File management and documentation to get familiar with editing environment
  • Develop complex models (ride vehicles, show set, and rigging)
  • Performance animation – clean-up and refinement of motion profiles
  • Develop animatic for new performances
  • Additional tasks may include scripting and light programming
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • In pursuit of a Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution with current class standing of Junior or above.
  • Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
  • Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred. 
  • An official transcript may be required upon request.
  • Preferred majors may include:  3D Animation, Game Art, Game Programming; Engineering Visualization, Rigging for Animation


Skills for success in role includes but not limited to:

  • 3D Animation (Must have completed at least one class in rigging for animation)
  • Prefer artists with and interest in vehicle and mechanical motion or over character animation
  • Animation for 3D game development is a plus (Must have animated models in a demo reel to be considered)
  • Scripting and programming for tools development and custom motion controls is a major plus.
  • Experience working in theatrical environment and live performance is a plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities and organization. 
  • Superior written & verbal communication skills.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and/or in teams.
  • Consistent attendance.
