EVENT GUIDE: The Event Guide is primarily responsible for assisting the Sales and Marketing department in executing internal and external Special Events. The primary duty is to act as ambassadors to Event Guests by welcoming them, communicating Event flow information and providing overall park directions. The Event Guide must be comfortable interacting with people and able to provide exemplary Guest Service.

Essential Duties Include:

  • Executing Special Events in Universal Studios, Islands Of Adventure, CityWalk, Resort Hotels and Sound Stages. Assisting with arrivals and check-in of Event Guests, facilitating movement of groups throughout the resort to include transportation, provide overall itinerary information and assistance to Special Event Guests maintaining boundaries of Event, distributing materials as required, assisting with on-site needs of Event Guests. The Event Guide must have an overall knowledge of the entire property including on-site hotels.
  • Providing assistance during Productions and Parades in the park. Event guides are also responsible for, but not limited to the following duties during Internal/External Events and Marquee Events to include concerts, parades, grand openings, and media events- crowd control/guest flow, barricade and rope and stanchion placement for queues and Event barriers.
  • Properly lifting all event inventory supplies. Event Guides must also adhere to safety guidelines when escorting or directing vehicles into the park and around UO property.
  • Providing capacity management support within Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure during peak park operation and daily Early Park Admission.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Positions in Event Operations require:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift, push or move between 25 and 100 pounds
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Maintaining a clean work environment with use of cleaning chemicals
  • Walking for prolonged periods (including ability to walk at a given pace that is predetermined by a moving sidewalk)
  • Talking
  • Hearing audible alarms, voice commands with background noise
  • Use of hands and fingers to grip, pinch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Balance
  • Reach, pull, push with hands and arms above or below head
  • Repeating motions more than twice per minute
  • Close vision with or without corrective lens. (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
  • Distance Vision with or without corrective lens. (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
  • Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point)
  • Depth Perception (vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
  • Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus while in changing light conditions e.g., sunshine to indoor or dark conditions)
  • Ability to work in varied light conditions including low or diminished lighting
  • Ability to work in an environment with flashing lights including strobe lamps
  • Ability to maintain alertness and attentiveness up to 4 hours while working varying hours.
  • Ability to maintain concentration/focus (e.g., ability to interpret the work environment and make decisions on predetermined operating policies and procedure)
  • Ability to smell
  • Ability to work in wet, humid conditions (non-weather)
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions to include direct sunlight, heat or cold
  • Ability to work in extreme cold (non-weather)
  • Ability to work in extreme heat (non-weather)
  • Noise Level-Loud Noise (Noise when raised conversation is needed)
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Ability to work in an environment with flashing lights including strobe lamps
  • Climb Stairs / Ladders
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to vibrations
  • Repetition-using an input device-a keyboard or mouse-in a steady manner
  • Ability to work in small or tight spaces
  • Will be required to work in confined spaces i.e. Manholes or work pits.
